Surrealist Domes: 2015
This was a project exploring what it means to reject function and purpose in 3D design.
Extensive research led to the exploration of surrealism in literature; particularly Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett, Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka and Rhinoceros by Eugène Ionesco.
In response to this research, I created domes out of silicone filled with custurd. I then placed them around car parks with the intention for them to be squashed and explode when driven over.
The car park was chosen as a location to symbolise the antithesis of function and each dome is a direct response to a character from each of the three texts.
